Had a spare throttle body 36mm one and as i couldn't find a manufactured one to swop over ,i think the saxo vts is the same and 43 mm but has an extra bit on the air bypass bit .. so stripped it down and got it bored out to 40mm at the enginnering firm i deliver to for the pricely sum of a biscuit barrel pack for tea break.. and got a 40mm butterfly from webber tuner. Fitted back together a treat . but the throttle stop is about 5 mm away from the stop. so will the sensor think its open all the time and race away or will the ecu learn and let it idle after a while

You'll have to explain what you mean about the throttle stop to me - is the throttle plate not closing properly or is the key on the spindle in the wrong place so it appears to the TPS that it is open?
If it is just the throttle stop on the cable linkage then it will work just fine *but* the throttle plate may end up damaging the bore if there isn't something to catch it.

hi julian The butterfly closes perfectly and the key way goes on only one way on shaft and the sensor in the housing does , because its bored out and new 40mm plate it all closes at a different angle , the black semi circle bit the cable goes round and should come to a stop on a screw with male tork end , in the second photo just above the screw driver handle, haven't got round to fitting it yet just soughted the bigger exhaust cheers jason

Now it all makes a bit more sense - having never studied the original TB on my Seicento I can't say if the TPS offers any adjustment for calibration purposes. If it does this needs to be done otherwise you will get some strange behaviour (if nothing else). I'm pretty sure there is some adjustment as we had terrible problems with the TPS on the race prep Punto I used to campaign a few years back.
The throttle stop also needs to work correctly to get the best out of the system and that may mean fabricating a different adjustment screw to make sure you have control over how much opening is left. The alternative is to fabricate a new throttle shaft so that the angles are all compensated for in one (relatively) easy step.
